The first 300 visitors will receive a free “galaxy” donut during the hours of 9 am – 11 am. Museum members are invited for a “sneak-peek” of the exhibit before it opens to the public, starting at 10 am.
Prepare for lift off and discover what space travel is all about at the Be the Astronaut exhibit at Baylor University’s Mayborn Museum! Be the Astronaut was designed by NASA engineers and aims to put students in the pilot’s seat of a spaceship while providing a bird’s-eye view of real astronaut pre-training via the use of touch screen stations, artifacts and interactive simulator pods built to look like space capsules Experience the wonders of space and plan a space mission, learn about technology and math skills required to be an astronaut in this exciting exhibit!
The exhibit will feature:
- Navigation Interactive Stations where visitors can engage in mission planning and more!
- Science Interactive Stations where visitors can explore the technology needed to accomplish space travel missions and learn about rockets, space suits, and space craft.
- Flying Capsules – a dramatic big screen experience with pilot and co-pilot adjustable seating and controls. Launch rockets and land rovers on space missions!
- Space Suit & Vintage Space Toy Displays
The exhibit will run through September 8, 2019.
