Course Objectives:

Are you new to Waco? We aim to equip you with the necessary tools and information to feel at home as soon as possible. After this course, you will know how to navigate like a local, connect with the community and discover your favorite places in Downtown Waco. 

Prerequisite:

You must have a sense of adventure and a willingness to try new things!

• Read our other blogs regularly to stay up-to-date on happenings in Downtown Waco!
• Prepare for school and work with new office supplies and paper goods from Paper Crown. With a wide selection of paper goods and craft materials, Paper Crown has everything you need to feel ready for your next semester or job!
• Complete your reading list and purchase books at Fabled Bookshop & Cafe! With books, toys, gifts and a cafe, Fabled is the perfect bookstore to frequent to feel best prepared for all your reading needs!

Downtown Waco offers a wide variety of lively opportunities throughout the day. From comfort breakfast spots to nightlife rooftop bars, Downtown Waco always has something going on!

• Breakfast Hours: Needing to refuel from a late night? Visit Cafe Cappuccino for a signature breakfast or lunch! With a home-away-from-home feel, Cafe Cappuccino is a beloved breakfast spot and the perfect place to bring visitors.
• Lunch Hours: Revival Eastside Eatery is your one-stop shop for salads, sandwiches and burgers! With delicious gluten-free options, Revival Eastside Eatery is an accommodating place to bring friends and family with any dietary needs.

Assignment 1: Get acquainted with Waco from the Brazos River! Waco Paddle Co. offers water rentals, including kayaks, stand-up paddle boards and canoes, so you can see Waco from a new perspective.

Assignment 2: Sign up for a library card at East Waco Library in order to feel better prepared for classes as well as get discounts for other Waco activities.

Assignment 3: Visit the Waco Downtown Farmers Market to meet locals and shop for healthy foods!

Grades will be calculated solely based on participation. Complete all of your assignments for a mastery level of success and start feeling like a local today!
