The City of Waco Parks & Recreation Department has been hosting Brazos Nights, a free summer concert series downtown, for more than 30 years. One night each month between April and July, the city provides free entertainment including games, art activities, vendors and food trucks, not to mention award-winning live performances! The event series has attracted more than 30,000 people to downtown Waco.
Over the years, they’ve seen artists such as Thomas Csorba, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Booker T. Jones and more. This year, they partnered with H-E-B, Dr Pepper and Courtyard by Marriott to bring artists including Jimmie Vaughan, Jonathan Tyler & The Northern Lights, La Energía Norteña and David Beck’s Tejano Weekend. If you haven’t made it yet, there’s still time – Robert Earl Keen will be performing on June 24! Just head to Heritage Square downtown at 6 p.m. that evening and grab your seat.
Food and drinks are always available for purchase on-site at each event, ranging from barbeque to tacos to ice cream and popcorn! Craft beers are also up for grabs. You’re always welcome to bring your own drinks, but remember that glass containers are prohibited.
Each year, this concert series has provided fun for the entire family, rounded off by the annual H-E-B Fireworks Extravaganza at Fourth on the Brazos. This year’s finale event will take place on Monday, July 4 at McLane Stadium’s Touchdown Alley. The gates will open at 6 p.m., with a performance at 7:30 p.m. The artist has yet to be announced, so make sure to stay tuned! At 9:15 p.m., fireworks will be set off along the river to celebrate Independence Day.
