All the buzz about development down Elm Avenue has started to come to fruition this summer and the flurry of activity has been a fresh addition to that corridor.

The summer got a kick-off from the Juneteenth Parade which had a great showing and a ton of energy.

Almost complete is the new showpiece for Elm Avenue, the 700 block Demonstration Block, renovated using city funds and TIF funds secured by businesses going in on that block. The brightly colored light poles and railings are a direct response to community members’ wishes to see bright colors on their street.

Revival Eastside Eatery is right on the cusp of opening to the public and next door to it is intended to eventually be a market with fresh goods.

And currently underway is a mural going up on the side of Brotherwell Brewing. Through the Artprenticeship Program, the mural was designed by guest artist Richard C. Thomas while working with local high school students as interns. There’s a Community Paint Day coming up July 20 for everyone to have a hand in finishing the mural.

Keep your eye on Elm Avenue because there are many more good things planned!
