Your Guide to Closet Cleanouts and Local Donations
In the spirit of out with the old and in with the new, the start of 2026 is the perfect time to refresh your space. If your closet is feeling a little too full, Downtown Waco offers several easy ways to clear it out—while giving back to the community.
Celebrating its grand opening in November 2025, Uptown Cheapskate offers a resale option for those looking to make space and earn a little extra cash. Here’s what to know before you stop by: all clothing must be freshly laundered, free of odors, and in excellent condition—no holes, stains, or damage. Uptown Cheapskate accepts name-brand items only; Walmart and SHEIN items are not accepted. Please note that children’s clothing and hangers are not accepted.
As a newer store downtown, Uptown Cheapskate is actively building its inventory, making now a great time to clean out your closet and put a few extra dollars back in your pocket.

Starting the new year with a heart for giving is something we value in Downtown Waco, and the Salvation Army exemplifies that spirit. They accept gently used clothing, furniture, and household goods. Proceeds from donations and purchases directly support local social service programs. For larger items, donation pickups can be scheduled in advance, or items can be dropped off at their convenient drive-through donation center.
The Caritas Treasures Resale Store supports a wide range of Caritas programs, including food assistance, veterans’ case management, and community support services. Donations can be dropped off Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 300 S 15th St., Waco, TX 76701.

Founded in 2003, the Mission Waco Clothesline offers gently worn women’s clothing and accessories. All proceeds benefit Mission Waco’s Manna House and Substance Abuse and Recovery programs, helping provide essential support to those in need.
Clothing Donation Bins
Looking for a quick, no-appointment option? Clothing donation bins around town make it easy to give back on your own schedule. If you’re near Downtown or Baylor’s campus, the donation bin just outside Torchy’s Tacos on 5th Street offers a simple drive-up dropoff option.
Even if cleaning out your closet wasn’t on your New Year’s resolution list, donating unused items is an easy way to support Downtown Waco nonprofits and make a meaningful impact in our community.
