Did you know that Waco is a proud participant of the nationwide network of communities collectively known as Main Street America? The organization is dedicated to revitalizing and reimagining historic downtowns in cities across the country, and Waco Main Street is responsible for orchestrating a comprehensive, preservation-based approach to commercial district regeneration.
Why Main Street? Waco Main Street joins Main Street America in its belief that “everyone deserves access to a vibrant neighborhood—a place that has a thriving local economy, is rich in character and features inviting public spaces that make residents and visitors feel like they belong.” The movement grew from a recognition that communities are only as strong as their core, and downtown Waco is the community gathering spot and the heart and soul of our community at large. We are working hard every day to create economic prosperity and protect our cultural identity in downtown Waco.
Waco was designated as a “main street” community in 2014 and is currently renewing its commitment to the program with a strategic focus on the main street approach at the local level. City Center Waco is proud to house the Waco Main Street Program on behalf of the City of Waco.
