Our team had the pleasure of getting a sneak preview of the summer dessert menu at Curry Up and Wok This Way, and let us just say—Waco, you’re in for a treat. We were not only blown away by the bold flavors and fresh ingredients but also by the genuine kindness and hospitality of the team behind the counter. Here’s our honest review of their newest summer items:
We started with the Fruit Sando, a lightly sweet sandwich of fresh whipped cream and summer fruits like strawberry, kiwi and mango between pillowy-soft bread. “The light and airy textures were unmatched and turned out to be a delicious mildly sweet combo,” said Lindsay R. To this, Jonathan S. added, “It was a good mixture of sweet and savory without an overwhelming amount of sweetness.”

Next, we dove into the Banoffee Cup Pie, a layered treat of Oreo crumbles, bananas, chocolate and caramel syrup and a pudding-like texture that was a hit with adults and our tiniest taste tester alike. “As a Texan who loves banana pudding, this kicked it up a notch with the chocolate and caramel. Pro tip: mix it up to get all the flavors in one bite,” shared Jonathan S.
Finally, we tried the Mango Sticky Rice, which stole the show for some of us. Made fresh to order, this dish featured warm coconut sticky rice and a perfectly ripe mango. “You know it’s a good mango when you can slice it with a spoon,” Jessica G. noted. “This was my unexpected favorite,” Jonathan S. said. “I wasn’t sure how the mix of textures and temperatures would work, but the flavors paired perfectly, especially alongside the entrées at Curry Up.”
Thank you to Curry Up and Wok This Way for letting us in early to get the first bite of these summer creations. Their warmth and generosity matched the care and intention behind every dish. If these desserts are any indication, Downtown Waco is in for something special this season. Head to Union Hall today to get a taste for yourself!
