Downtown Waco 101: Who we are and What we do.

The beginning of a new year seems like a great time to tell you who we are and how we serve Downtown Waco.

The Downtown Waco website ( downtownwacotx.com ) and associated social media are services of Public Improvement District 1 (see map below). The Public Improvement District (PID) is made up of property owners in the core of Downtown Waco who voluntarily tax themselves extra in order to fund additional maintenance and security downtown, as well as marketing of Downtown Waco. Which is where we come in!

Our goal is to get everyone to come downtown, to live, work, play, dine, shop and take ownership in everything happening in the very center of the city. We form relationships with downtown merchants and try to help them spread the message about their businesses. Downtown merchants may email us at [email protected] to let us know about special events or anything they are hoping to get our help on promoting. We do not charge downtown merchants anything to be listed on the Downtown Waco website or to be promoted on our social media channels. It’s just what we do.

Also, because we keep a calendar of downtown goings on, we love to hear about any events being held down here. The email address listed above is a good place to send that sort of information. So even if you are not a downtown merchant but you are holding a meeting or event somewhere downtown that is open to the public, please reach out to us and let us know. EVERYTHING that happens downtown has the potential of bringing new folks downtown and that’s what we want.

Aside from digital promotion of Downtown Waco, you may see additional marketing that the PID funds to help spread the word about downtown. We also put on the Cocoa Crawl, sponsor Waco Wonderland and have designs on partnering on fun happenings in the future. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to keep up with what’s going on!

We hope 2020 is a great year for everyone and that you all come enjoy downtown!
