Earth Day is the perfect reminder that small actions can make a big difference—and in Waco, those actions are happening all year long. For more than 45 years, Keep Waco Beautiful has helped residents care for the places that make our city special, from neighborhood parks to some of Downtown Waco’s most recognizable landmarks.

Their mission goes far beyond picking up litter. Keep Waco Beautiful works to inspire pride in our community while showing how everyday actions—planting trees, cleaning public spaces, and creating greener neighborhoods—can make Waco a better place for everyone.

Programs That Make It Easy to Get Involved

Keep Waco Beautiful offers several programs that make it simple for residents, families, students, and local businesses to get involved throughout the year.

The Great Waco Cleanup brings volunteers together to tackle litter and beautify streets, parks, and neighborhoods across the city. Participants receive the tools and support they need to make an immediate impact.

Community members can also take part in Adopt-A-Spot and Adopt-A-Park, programs that allow individuals, organizations, and businesses to care for a space year-round. By regularly maintaining these areas, volunteers help keep Waco’s shared spaces clean, welcoming, and vibrant.

Through Green Neighborhoods and Placemaking projects, residents work together to transform everyday corners of the city into inviting outdoor spaces with gardens, trails, and gathering areas where neighbors can connect and enjoy the outdoors.

Students can join the effort as well, participating in programs that teach sustainability while giving them the opportunity to leave a lasting mark on the city they call home.

Keep Waco Beautiful is also launching the Waco Green Business Passport on April 1! With this digital passport, you can explore participating green businesses around Waco and earn points by checking in all month long.

During Earth Week (April 20–24), you’ll also be able to take advantage of special deals and discounts at participating locations. At the end of the month, points can be redeemed for prizes making it a fun, interactive way to support eco-friendly businesses while celebrating sustainability in your community!
