Shop Small, Support Big: Your Guide to Small Businesses in Downtown Waco

As the holidays approach, one of our time-honored traditions here in Downtown Waco is supporting our local small businesses. They are truly what give Waco its unique charm and build a supportive community—one purchase at a time.

Whether you’re strolling through the Farmers Market on a beautiful Saturday morning, exploring boutiques along Franklin Avenue, or grabbing lunch at a local cafe, there’s always something to discover downtown. Our community is built by local artists and business owners who pour passion into every product and breathe life into this city.

Grab your friends, family, and pets to take a walk downtown, and experience the true spirit of Waco, seen through the lens of our local community.

If you’re looking for a perfect outfit, downtown will fulfill that need and more. Local boutiques like Mainstream and Spice Village are just a few spots to hit on your mission to shop small.

Hotel Herringbone’s courtyard is a little slice of shopping heaven, with five charming local shops that check all the boxes. Charm School Vintage is another exotic thrift store, with unique trinkets and clothing galore. Sendero Provisions Co. and Rancher Hat Bar take a turn into the Wild West, with country styles for everyone. Golden Green Boutique is perfect for the girls looking for classically Southern looks and all things green and gold!

When you’re feeling hungry but can’t narrow it down to one place, Union Hall has over 15 eateries inside for you to choose from.

Local bakeries and cafes like Street Dog Cafe, BRÛ, Olive Branch, Fabled Bookshop and Cafe, and more are perfect to browse casually—with a treat in hand, of course.

If you’re looking for a more elevated dining experience, Red Herring, DiamondBack’s, and The Brasserie in Hotel 1928 offer classic and luxurious dinner experiences.

Every time you choose to shop, dine, and explore our local businesses, you help Downtown Waco grow and expand our community connections. Be sure to pop into vintage shops, grab a locally brewed cup of coffee, and explore art galleries and handcrafted items—because Waco’s got it all.
